The New Jersey Devils are back on track in the NHL. The team with the Swiss trio of Nico Hischier, Timo Meier and Jonas Siegenthaler celebrates its fourth win in a row.
Captain Hischier scored his 21st goal of the season in the 6-3 derby win over the New York Rangers. The Valais native made it 4-3 with twelve minutes remaining, scoring with a wrist shot in overtime. Meier and Siegenthaler failed to score. Man of the match was Jack Hughes: The American, hero of the Olympic final, scored three goals and one assist on Saturday in Newark. Despite the winning streak, the Devils are still nine points off the playoff places.
The Nashville Predators suffered a 3-2 defeat against the in-form Buffalo Sabres - their fourth in the last five games. The final goal, in which captain Roman Josi had his stick in play, came too late for the visitors four minutes before the end.
The Tampa Bay Lightning have halted the negative trend. The team with Switzerland's Janis Moser won 5:2 against the Toronto Maple Leafs after four consecutive defeats and consolidated second place in the East. Moser failed to score in just under 19 minutes of ice time.
Kevin Fiala missed the Los Angeles Kings (3:4 against Montreal) with an injury, as did Nino Niederreiter in the Winnipeg Jets' 3:2 overtime win against Vancouver. Philipp Kurashev was an absentee for the San Jose Sharks (1:2 n.V. against the New York Islanders).
