Kevin Fiala cracks the 30-goal mark in an NHL season for the second time. Nico Hischier and Timo Meier also score.
Kevin Fiala scored his 30th goal of the NHL season on Saturday. The St.Gallen native was named the best player of the game, which the Los Angeles Kings won 3-0 against Edmonton.
It is the second time Kevin Fiala has reached the 30-goal mark in a regular season, following his record-breaking 2021-22 campaign in a Minnesota jersey (33 goals, 85 points overall). He is the second Swiss player to do so this season after Devils captain Nico Hischier, who scored his 35th goal of the season and recorded two assists in New Jersey's 4-0 win. Timo Meier scored twice in this game. The Appenzell native now has 24 goals.
Fiala opened the scoring in the 30th minute when he backhanded a rebound from a shot by Alex Laferriere. Andrei Kuzmenko and Trevor Lewis scored the other two goals for the Kings, who punched their playoff ticket a few hours later thanks to Calgary's loss in Las Vegas.
Pius Suter's Vancouver Canucks can still keep their playoff hopes alive. Vancouver beat Anaheim 6-2 to move to within six points of Minnesota, which currently holds the second wild card in the West. The Canucks have six games left in the regular season.
1 assist for Bichsel
Also worth mentioning is the assist by Lian Bichsel, who now has 8 points this season. The defenseman from Solothurn still had to accept a defeat with Dallas, as they lost 3:5 at home to Sidney Crosby's Pittsburgh Penguins (3 goals and 1 assist). The Stars, who are already safely in the playoffs, had previously won seven in a row.
