After two defeats, the New Jersey Devils return to winning ways. The match-winner in the 3-2 win against the Nashville Predators was Nico Hischier, who scored in overtime.
Just over 40 seconds into overtime, Hischier took heart and scored with a slapshot into the far corner of the goal. The Devils' captain enjoyed plenty of time as opponent Roman Josi put him under pressure too late. With his eighth overtime goal for the Devils, Hischier ensured that his team came away victorious after trailing twice. For the Predators, on the other hand, it was their fifth defeat in the last six games.
Another Swiss duel took place in Tampa, where the Lightning with Janis Moser hosted the Winnipeg Jets with Nino Niederreiter. The home team clearly prevailed 4:1 and defended its top position in the Eastern Conference. While Moser contributed an assist on the first goal of the game, Niederreiter failed to score.
Kevin Fiala also recorded an assist, but his Los Angeles Kings were clearly beaten 1:4 by the Buffalo Sabres. After three recent victories, it was the next setback for the Californians. They are currently just outside the play-off places.
