In 2024, Hug had to settle for 4th place in New York after a crash in which he injured his hand. Now he maintained his unbeaten record in marathon races this year. He had previously triumphed in Boston, London, Sydney, Berlin and Chicago.

Catherine Debrunner finished 3rd in the women's race with a time of 1:47:56 hours. The 30-year-old from Thurgau had to admit defeat to the American Tatyana McFadden (1:47:54) in the sprint for second place. The local Susannah Scaroni (1:42:10) was in a class of her own. Manuela Schär finished fourth in 1:50:03 hours.
