Several thousand fans gathered in and around Fribourg's ice hockey stadium on Thursday evening to cheer on Fribourg-Gottéron. The ice hockey club could win the first championship title in its history.
Fribourg took on Davos in the seventh and deciding game of the play-off final. The game kicked off at 8 pm. Gottéron organized a public viewing at home, which was extremely popular.
Several thousand people gathered on the "Place du Fair-Play" in front of the stadium an hour and a half before the start of the match, as a reporter from the Keystone-SDA news agency reported. The match was broadcast there on a large screen.
On the day of the match, there were no more tickets available to get into the stadium, which holds over 9,000 people, where the game was shown on the video cube.
Should Gottéron win the title, the entire canton will enjoy a free night. The Fribourg public transport company would offer free return buses.
