The national ice hockey team also wins its second test against Hungary in 24 hours in Biel. The Swiss followed up Thursday's 6:1 with another 6:1.

This international match in front of 4361 spectators did not cause any major waves. The Swiss got off to another lightning start. Dario Meyer put Jan Cadieux's team ahead after just 99 seconds. On Thursday, the Swiss were already 3-0 up after nine minutes and five shots.

This time, however, the furious start ended with the first goal. After that, the Swiss were content to do their duty. In the last home game before the home World Championships, the ice comrades saved the freestyle for later.

All thirds won

Not much was missing and the Hungarians would have posed even more problems for the Swiss. Hungary's young goalie Levente Hegedüs did not cut a good figure in goals 1 and 3 (by Dominik Egli). Switzerland's 2:1 - although beautifully played out and perfectly finished off by Romain Loeffel - was tainted by the suspicion of an offside. And Dario Rohrbach's 4:1 was only validated after the referees had checked the video to make sure Hungary had not scored first.

After all, the Swiss won all six periods against the Hungarians in the last two days. Jan Cadieux will certainly have seen a lot of things he liked again. Nevertheless, the Swiss must improve.

Czech Republic, Sweden, Finland

After two hectic weeks with less important test games (in Slovakia and against Hungary), Switzerland's World Championship preparations will take on greater significance next week. The first NHL players will join the team next week. Other ZSC Lions players will also join the team. And various players from the playoff finalists are also toying with the idea of playing in the World Championship at home.

Over the next two weeks, the Swiss will face the Czech Republic, Sweden and Finland twice each in two Euro Hockey tournaments. Before the Czech four-nation tournament in Ceske Budejovice next week, the Swiss will travel to Jönköping, where they will play their first tournament game away from home against Sweden next Thursday. The squad for next week will be announced at the weekend.
