The Norwegian judiciary has largely acquitted Gjert Ingebrigtsen of charges of violence against several of his children.

The father of seven was convicted on Monday of deliberately hitting his then 15-year-old daughter in the face with a towel during an argument. He received a 15-day suspended prison sentence and must pay the equivalent of around 820 francs in compensation. However, the 59-year-old was acquitted of other charges - including violence against Jakob Ingebrigtsen.

In the case of the daughter, Gjert Ingebrigtsen was convicted of assault, but not of the more serious charge of mistreatment of close relatives, according to the verdict of the Sör-Rogaland District Court in Sandnes near Stavanger.

Gjert Ingebrigtsen had to answer for alleged physical and psychological violence against his children over a total period of 14 years (from 2008 to 2022).
