Jan Christen suffered the injury in a crash in the French one-day race Faun-Ardèche Classic on Saturday. This was announced by his team, UAE Emirates, late on Saturday evening. Christen will travel back to Switzerland to undergo surgery, according to a statement from the racing team.
Jan Christen celebrated his second victory of the season last week at the Tour of the Algarve. He then wore the leader's jersey until the final time trial, which was ultimately snatched from him by Jonas Vingegaard. The young Swiss rider finished the highly competitive tour in Portugal in 10th place.
