The Stars won the fourth game in their home arena 3:1 and thus have the first opportunity to secure qualification for the semi-finals on Friday night. The game will take place in Winnipeg.

Player of the night was Mikael Granlund. The Finn, who was traded to Dallas from the San Jose Sharks this season, scored all three goals for the Stars to record his first hat trick in the NHL playoffs. Granlund had only managed three goals in one game twice before in the world's best league, the last time at the end of December 2017, when he was still teammates with Niederreiter at Minnesota. The Wild defeated the Nashville Predators 4-2 back then, for whom Granlund had also once played together with Roman Josi.

Granlund put the Stars ahead after eight and a half minutes of the first period on the power play. Nikolaj Ehlers, the son of Heinz Ehlers, a well-known coach in Switzerland, equalized at the start of the second period. Granlund put his team back in front two minutes before the end of the middle period and finally ended the Jets' hopes in the third period with another goal in overtime.

Niederreiter went scoreless for the first time in this series. Bichsel was only on the ice for just under eight minutes.
