Wind improved the previous record set by Sandra Gasser in 1993 (4:07.98) by more than one and a half seconds. She finished 6th in the competition. Wind had only set a national indoor best over the mile in Val-de-Reuil on Sunday in 4:37.02 minutes.

Valentina Rosamilia also impressed at the same meeting in Ostrava. The 800m runner finished third and with a time of 2:00.78 minutes beat the limit for the World Indoor Championships in March in Torun, Poland (2:00.90). She lowered her personal best of 2:01.98 minutes by more than a second. After Audrey Werro, Rosamilia is the second Swiss 800m athlete to meet the World Championships time limit.
