The Olympic mountain bike champion from Tokyo was at the front right from the start and for a long time was part of the group of five to six riders fighting for the bronze medal.

On the sixth and final lap, Dutch rider Puck Pieterse managed to break away from this group. The 2024 mountain bike world champion finished in third place behind her compatriots Lucinda Brand and Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado. The difference between Neff and the podium was just eleven seconds.

The men's race takes place on Sunday. The top favorite is defending champion Mathieu van der Poel from the Netherlands, while Swiss hopes rest on national champion Kevin Kuhn.
