After the sprint, Jorge Martin also wins the main race at Le Mans. The 2024 world champion thus ends a personal drought of 588 days without a GP victory.

Martin overtook world championship leader Marco Bezzecchi with three laps to go and then kept his Italian team-mate from the Aprilia works team at bay. The Spaniard is now just one point behind Bezzecchi in the world championship standings.

It was Martin's first GP win since his world title in 2024 and his first since switching to Aprilia. Japanese rider Ai Ogura finished third to complete the one-two-three for the Italian manufacturer in the French Grand Prix with his MotoGP podium debut. Previously, Aprilia had never taken all the podium places in the premier class.

Francesco Bagnaia, who started from pole position, crashed on the 16th of 27 laps and came away empty-handed. World champion Marc Marquez did not even start after suffering a broken foot in a sprint on Saturday. Following an operation, the Spaniard will also miss his home race next Sunday in Montmeló.
