Martin overtook the Italian Ducati rider Francesco Bagnaia on his Aprilia shortly before the finish line with a risky maneuver that could have led to both riders crashing. Bagnaia avoided the collision, but had to settle for 2nd place. The Spaniard Pedro Acosta secured 3rd place.

For world champion Marc Marquez, the sprint was already over on the first lap. The Spaniard crashed on his Ducati in one of the first corners while trying to overtake Fabio Di Giannantonio. Because he took the Italian with him when he crashed, this could result in a penalty for Marquez. In addition to world champion Marquez and qualifying winner Di Giannantonio, world championship leader Marco Bezzecchi also crashed in the sprint.
