It finally happened in the 11th game: Roman Josi scores his first goal of the NHL season in the Nashville Predators' 5-2 home win against Colorado. Pius Suter even scores twice for Vancouver.
Josi had publicly expressed his displeasure with his team's performance on Thursday after the defeat against the Edmonton Oilers - and things improved. "It wasn't all perfect, but we found a way to win," the Bernese defenseman said on Saturday after the home win, adding. "There are a lot of things we can build on."
Direct shot into the net
Josi led by example. The Predators' captain made the decisive pass to tie the game at 1:1 in the 29th minute and showed the team the way to victory in the final period when he scored the 3:1 with a direct shot in the 46th minute in overtime. It was his first goal of the season after six assists.
Colorado fought back with the final goal to avoid a third defeat in a row, but Filip Forsberg and Gustav Nyquist secured the win for Nashville with their goals into the empty net. The Predators, who had previously lost twice in a row, now have a record of four wins in eleven games.
Pius Suter scored the winner and two goals
Pius Suter also had an extremely pleasing evening. The Zurich forward scored two goals in Vancouver's 3-2 win at home against San Jose and was deservedly named the game's best player. Suter scored in the 35th minute to make it 1:1 and added a direct shot 26 seconds before the end of regulation time to make it 3:2.
Kevin Fiala also proved his scoring qualities on Saturday. The Los Angeles Kings forward recorded two assists, but was beaten 3:4 on penalties in the Swiss duel with Philipp Kurashev's Chicago Blackhawks.
