Jubilarian Pius Suter loses the latest Swiss duel in the NHL. The Zurich native was beaten 1:4 by the St. Louis Blues at the Tampa Bay Lightning with Janis Moser.
Suter played his 400th game in regular seasons on Tuesday night. He also made 13 appearances in the playoffs of the penultimate championship with the Vancouver Canucks. The franchise from the west coast of Canada was Suter's third stop in the NHL. He made his debut five years ago with the Chicago Blackhawks, which he left for Detroit after one season. He was under contract with the Red Wings for two years, as he was with the Canucks, before moving to the Blues last July.
The Blues were down 2-0 after nine minutes against the Lightning. Justin Faulk was able to reduce the deficit in the second period, but Tampa Bay responded immediately with the third goal. Suter was not involved in the American's goal, which also left him empty-handed in his personal tally. The former ZSC Lions forward has now gone nine games without a goal. Defenseman Moser, for his part, left the ice with a plus-2 record.
The Los Angeles Kings with Kevin Fiala also suffered a defeat. The team from California lost the duel between two recently struggling teams against the Columbus Blue Jackets 1:3. It was the Kings' fifth defeat in the last six games, while the Blue Jackets had only won one of their previous eight games.
