Annik Kälin changes her plans. Instead of competing in the pentathlon, the 24-year-old from Graubünden will only compete in the long jump at the World Indoor Championships in Nanjing (March 21-23).
Kälin announced that she does not yet feel ready to expose her body to a pentathlon. At the European Indoor Championships in Apeldoorn last Saturday, she won the silver medal in the long jump with a Swiss record of 6.90 meters.
Kälin is one of 13 athletes representing Switzerland in China. Angelica Moser (pole) and Ditaji Kambundji (60 m hurdles), two European indoor champions, and Mujinga Kambundji (60 m) and Simon Ehammer, two other silver medallists from the European Championships in Apeldoorn, are also in the line-up. Ehammer, who competed in the heptathlon at the European Indoor Championships, will only compete in the long jump in Nanjing as planned.
