Kevin Fiala continues to impress for the Los Angeles Kings. The player from eastern Switzerland is also one of the outstanding players in the 5:4 win after a penalty shootout against the Dallas Stars.
Fiala almost scored two goals for the third time in a row: However, the supposed game-winning goal in the fifth minute of overtime was disallowed due to goalie interference. The 28-year-old striker was given another chance to shine in the penalty shootout - and did so. He confidently converted to make it 2:0, and shortly afterwards victory was assured.
In regulation time, Fiala had scored the 2:1 through the legs of his compatriot Lian Bichsel. The Dallas defender had lost his stick and was accordingly disadvantaged in the duel with Fiala, who later also contributed an assist.
There was also a Swiss duel in Chicago, where the Blackhawks with Philipp Kurashev hosted the Nashville Predators with Roman Josi. The home team clearly retained the upper hand with a 6:2 victory, with the two Swiss players not among the scorers.
Nino Niederreiter also failed to score in the Winnipeg Jets' 4-3 win over the New York Islanders. It was the eighth win in a row for the Jets, who clearly lead the Western Conference.
