All set for the ESAF

King Wenger hands out apples ++ the wrestlers are here ++ rain forecast for Saturday

The parade to the ESAF site on Friday afternoon is still in the sunshine - including wrestling king Kilian Wenger with the Thurgau Apple Queen.

No time? blue Sport summarizes for you

  • The big wrestling party gets underway in Mollis GL on Saturday morning.
  • At the Swiss Wrestling Festival, the wrestling king will be chosen from 270 wrestlers.
  • On Friday evening, a parade will pass through Mollis - with wrestling king Kilian Wenger in the procession.

Everything is ready for the Swiss Wrestling and Alpine Festival in Mollis. In addition to thousands of visitors, Kilian Wenger has also arrived in Glarus. The wrestling king was part of the parade group from Frauenfeld, the venue of the ESAF 2010, where Wenger ascended the wrestling throne.

Together with the Apple Queen, the Bernese handed out apples to the people on the Glarus parade route. The groups made their way to Mollis with the charm of a carnival parade. The Glarus schoolchildren, who were off school on Friday because of the ESAF, blew soap bubbles, the Glarus circus Mugg marched with a mobile circus ring and the sports students showed off their individual skills.

The protagonists are also present on the festival grounds. A few wrestlers were already able to get an impression of the setting on Friday afternoon.

The weather was surprisingly good on Friday. Rain showers are forecast for Saturday, but in view of the rapidly changing weather conditions, this forecast should be treated with caution.
