Captain Kerstin Kündig is retiring from the Swiss national team, the association has announced.
The 32-year-old director played 114 international matches in which she scored 289 goals - the player from the Zurich Oberland region made her debut in 2012.
"I'm proud of my 15 years in the national team. During this time, we were able to achieve milestones that we never thought we would be able to achieve," Kündig was quoted as saying. By milestones, she is referring to participating in the European Championship for the first time in 2022 and the World Cup for the first time in 2025.
Kündig worked abroad for five years from 2020 to 2025, mainly in Germany. She won the double with Bietigheim in 2023. She won the European League with Thüringer HC in 2025. She currently plays for GC Amicitia Zurich.
