In the fifth and so far most important duel of the season, the SCL Tigers celebrate their first victory against Kloten. They won the first leg of the play-in at home 3:1.

The Langnau team turned a 0:1 (9th) deficit into a 2:1 (24th) lead within 49 seconds at the start of the second period. The equalizer was scored by Pascal Berger with his third goal of the season. The 35-year-old ends his career at the end of the season after 19 years in Switzerland's top league, nine of them with the SCL Tigers. Top scorer Dario Rohrbach was responsible for the 2:1.

It got even better for the Emmental side, as Sean Malone scored on the powerplay with a deflection to make it 3:1 (56'). Rohrbach also had his stick in play for this goal. He and Finnish defenseman Vili Saarijärvi thus scored two points in this game.

Kloten got off to a dominant start and took a deserved lead in the ninth minute through Mischa Ramel. The goal was preceded by a mistake by Langnau defender Phil Baltisberger. The shot ratio was now 10:2 in favor of the visitors (34:27 in total). Although Kloten's 1:0 did not appear to be unstoppable, Tigers goalie Luca Boltshauser could not be beaten thereafter.

The Zurich Unterlanders will therefore be challenged on Thursday. The winner of this duel will advance to the playoff quarter-finals, while the loser will get a second chance against Ambri-Piotta or the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers.
