Charlin, who is currently injured and has a 94.6 percent save percentage, came out on top ahead of Bern forward Austin Czarnik in the poll of National League coaches and captains. Before Charlin, Reto Berra was the only goalie in 2012 to win MVP honors in the voting initiated by Tamedia in 2004.

In addition to Charlin and Czarnik, the All-Star team consists of the two defensemen Romain Loeffel (SC Bern) and Dean Kukan (ZSC Lions) as well as the forwards Dominik Kubalik (Ambri-Piotta) and Lino Martschini (EV Zug). Dario Rohrbach of the SCL Tigers was voted newcomer of the season, while Lausanne's Geoff Ward was voted best coach.
