Joël Genazzi, the 37-year-old defenseman and captain of playoff finalist Lausanne, makes his retirement official at the club's end-of-season party.

"I will keep the special ambiance of the club - the best in the league - in my heart," said Genazzi, who grew up in the canton of Zurich, two days after the 3-2 defeat in the fifth game of the playoff final against the ZSC Lions, his 719th appearance for Lausanne HC.

He was "simply disappointed that I didn't win the title in my last game," Genazzi, who joined LHC in 2013 after stints with EHC Kloten, Fribourg-Gottéron, EHC Visp and the SCL Tigers, continued.
