Lea Meier from Schiers in Graubünden is the best Swiss athlete at the biathlon sprint in Ruhpolding in 18th place - her best ranking in a World Cup sprint race.
Lea Meier made it into the top 20 with a perfect shooting performance. The 2020 Youth World Champion took 8.6 seconds off Amy Baserga. Baserga put in a strong race on the cross-country course, but missed out on another top classification with two misses in prone shooting. Baserga has already finished 5th in the mass start in Annecy this season.
Lena Häcki-Gross finished the sprint in 35th place with one miss. She needs to make up ten places in Sunday's pursuit race and finish in the top 25 to secure her Olympic selection.
The sprint race in Ruhpolding was won by Sweden's Hanna Öberg, who came out on top for the second time this season (after the sprint race in Annecy).
