The Liechtenstein Olympic delegation for the Summer Games in Paris has shrunk from five participants in Tokyo to just one starter. Mountain biker Romano Püntener will compete in the cross-country.

Although the 20-year-old Püntener was unable to secure one of the 34 quota places, he will benefit from the International Olympic Committee's universality rule. This is intended to enable as many nations as possible to take part in the Games. The Liechtenstein Olympic Committee had applied to the IOC for such a "universality place" after Püntener showed his potential by finishing 23rd at the 2023 European U23 Championships, among other things.

Liechtenstein sent a quintet to Tokyo in 2021. The synchronized swimming duo of Lara Mechnig and Marluce Schierscher was the first team from the country to qualify for the Summer Games.
