Luca Gianinazzi, who was fired by HC Lugano on January 13, will succeed Heinz Ehlers at EHC Visp in the Swiss League. Gianinazzi will receive a one-year contract.

Gianinazzi (32) was promoted from elite juniors to National League coach in Lugano in October 2022 and stayed in the job for 27 months. Gianinazzi represents the modern, performance-oriented generation of coaches, EHC Visp writes on its homepage. Under Gianinazzi, Visp, the current Swiss League champions, want to remain at the top of the table in the long term.
Visp has also brought in a new goalie: the 23-year-old Finn with a Swiss license, Juho Markkanen. Markkanen brings international experience with him. He signed a one-year contract with an option in Visp.
