Lugano wins Wednesday's only National League game in Lausanne 5-2 and moves into the top 4 of the table.
Two power play goals made the difference in favor of the Luganesi, who thus beat another top team four days after Fribourg-Gottéron. Zach Sanford put the visitors 2:1 ahead for the first time in the 38th minute when Lausanne's new signing Ryan Spooner served a minor penalty. A good six minutes after the second break, Dario Simion increased the lead to 3:1 again in overtime.
Although Lausanne reduced the deficit to 2:3 through Austin Czarnik, Swiss Olympian Calvin Thürkauf and Ramon Tanner scored to make it clear. Simion scored Thürkauf's goal with an assist, his third goal of the evening.
