Marc Hirschi goes into the time trial on the penultimate day of the Tour of Luxembourg in fourth place overall.
Last year's Swiss winner was also classified in 4th place in the 3rd stage on Friday - behind two breakaways and Mathieu van der Poel.
Belgian Mauri Vansevenant took the stage win after 200 kilometers from Rosport to Diekirch ahead of Italian Davide Formolo.
With his solo victory, Vansevenant replaced Van der Poel as overall leader. Before Saturday's time trial and Sunday's final stage, Hirschi is 49 seconds behind Vansevenant and 15 seconds behind Van der Poel in third place.
The road race at the World Championships in Zurich, which begin on Saturday, is scheduled for Sunday next week.
