- Marc Hirschi will ride for owner Fabian Cancellara's Tudor Pro Cycling from 2025.
- He has a clear leadership role in the team.
- Together with Hirschi, Fabian Lienhard is also joining Tudor.
As number 10 in the world rankings, Hirschi has a clear leadership role in the Swiss team. He had been denied this in recent years when he was overshadowed by Tadej Pogacar. He signed a three-year contract.
"I get the chance to be the sole leader in those races that suit me," Hirschi reveals his motives to "Blick". "I'm thinking of the Ardennes classics, but also of stages in major tours."
"It's not always the money that decides"
The Swiss team convinced him because of its rapid development and high level of professionalism. "I had a good gut feeling about Tudor right from the start. But there were also other teams that were interested in me. I listened to everything and also discussed it with friends and family."
An extension at UAE Emirates would also have been a possibility. Hirschi, who won the one-day classic in San Sebastián on Saturday, is likely to take a significant pay cut with the move. But that doesn't seem to bother the Bernese rider: "I'd rather not talk about the financial aspects. I can only say this much: it's not always the money that makes the difference."
Fabian Lienhard also joins Tudor
Team Tudor, based in Sursee, was founded almost two and a half years ago by two-time Olympic time trial champion Cancellara. Although the team is not yet one of the 18 World Tour teams, it has been successfully racing as a UCI Pro Team in the second-highest category in international cycling since 2023.
Together with Hirschi, Fabian Lienhard is also joining Tudor. The 30-year-old from Zurich, most recently Stefan Küng's teammate at Groupama-FDJ for five seasons, has signed a two-year contract.
