Marc Marquez also wins the fifth sprint in the MotoGP World Championship.
The six-time Spanish world champion came out on top at the Spanish Grand Prix in Jerez ahead of his brother Alex Marquez and Italian Ducati team-mate Francesco Bagnaia. Frenchman Fabio Quartararo, who started from pole position, crashed.
Marc Marquez thus continued his almost perfect start to the season. Ahead of the main race on Sunday, the 32-year-old Catalan is now 20 and 31 points respectively ahead of his brother and Bagnaia in the overall standings.
Quartararo, who had surprisingly secured his first pole position in over three years late in the morning, retained the lead in the first corner, but crashed when Marquez overtook him on the second of twelve laps.
In Moto3, Noah Dettwiler from Solothurn lined up just under two and a half seconds behind Spaniard José Antonio Rueda in 18th place in qualifying for Sunday's race.
