Marc Marquez left Honda at the end of 2023 and joined the powerful Ducati Group. After a season in the Gresini customer team, he is riding in the works team this year. He is now as dominant as ever again; from 2013 to 2019, he won the world championship title in the premier class six times. In 2020, he crashed heavily and broke his upper arm, after which he had to deal with complications. He went 1043 days without a win, ending his drought on September 1, 2024.

On Sunday in Brno, Marc Marquez, who had started from second on the grid, took the lead from the Italian Marco Bezzecchi, who was riding an Aprilia, on the eighth of 21 laps and subsequently left nothing to chance. His lead over Bezzecchi at the finish was 1.753 seconds. Third place went to the Spaniard Pedro Acosta on a KTM.

Marc Marquez had already triumphed in the sprint on Saturday. He scored maximum points on a race weekend for the eighth time this year - and for the fifth time in a row. It was the 32-year-old Catalan's 70th victory in his 201st MotoGP race; he won for the fourth time in Brno. The Czech GP took place for the first time since 2020 after the track was resurfaced.

With his latest victory, Marc Marquez took a big step towards his seventh world title in the premier class, which would see him catch up with record holder Valentino Rossi. Because his brother Alex crashed on the second lap - in the process shooting down compatriot Joan Mir - he leads the world championship standings after twelve of 22 stages with a lead of 120 points over Alex Marquez.

The Spanish defending champion Jorge Martin finished the race in 7th place. This is worth mentioning because he made his comeback in Brno after a three-month forced break. The riders will now have a break. The next GP will take place on August 17th in Spielberg, Austria.
