HCV Martigny announces its withdrawal from the MyHockey League. The 2025/26 season will therefore be played with just eleven teams.
"It's sad that we're losing a team from the MHL. Our aim is to return to the league with twelve teams as soon as possible," said Paolo Angeloni, who is responsible for the amateur leagues, in a statement from the association. In the coming season, there will be no relegated teams in the third-highest Swiss league.
HCV Martigny was formed in 2018 through the merger of HC Sion and HC Martigny Red Ice. The team was promoted to the Swiss League two years ago, but withdrew back to the MHL after one season due to financial problems and a lack of infrastructural prospects.
The current season ended surprisingly for Martigny in the play-off quarter-finals after winning the qualifiers; the Valais team lost the series against Langenthal 2:3.
