Tour Down Under Mauro Schmid starts the season in 6th place

Mauro Schmid gets the new season off to a good start. The Zurich rider finishes 6th in the prologue of the Tour Down Under in Australia.

At the start of the six-day tour, which is part of the World Tour, Schmid lost four and a half seconds to the fastest rider Samuel Watson on a 3.6-kilometer loop in Adelaide. The Briton had already won the prologue of the Tour de Romandie in Saint-Imier last April.

In the south of Australia, Watson won by 59 hundredths ahead of his compatriot Ethan Vernon. The second Swiss participant, Joel Suter from the Bernese Oberland, finished in 46th place, 13 seconds behind.
