The defending champion and medal candidate Jason Joseph is surprisingly eliminated in the semi-finals of the 60 m hurdles at the European Indoor Championships in Apeldoorn. The Basel athlete had a totally unsuccessful run.

The Basel-based athlete remains a mystery. Top and flop are close together for him. During this indoor season, he hinted that the Swiss record of 7.41 seconds could fall. Now he delivered 7.70 seconds in the Netherlands. He was therefore another 14 hundredths slower than on Thursday in the preliminary heat, in which he only managed the sixth-best time of all participants with 7.56 seconds.

His training colleague Ditaji Kambundji presented a completely different picture. The athlete from Bern is the fastest in the semi-finals (7.82) going into the final on Friday evening (21:43). The 22-year-old is a model of consistency. The Swiss record (7.80) is shaking menacingly.
