Great honor for Mia Emmenegger: The 20-year-old from Central Switzerland receives the award for Europe's best young player of the past season from the European Handball Federation (EHF).
Emmenegger can look back on an exciting first year of handball abroad. Until her bankruptcy in January, the 1.61 m tall winger was under contract with Kristiansand in Norway, after which she moved to top Danish club Esbjerg. With her strong performances, the 44-time Swiss international played a key role in the club's 3rd place finish in the Champions League.
The Swiss top talent caused a sensation at the Women's European Championship in Basel and Vienna in December, where she scored 30 goals and was nominated as the best young player.
