The Geneva sprinter Mumenthaler has declared a forfeit for the 200 m race. The European champion felt cramps in his back thigh on Saturday after winning the 100 m title last Saturday in Frauenfeld, which is why he did not compete in the 200 m on Sunday. According to his management, which also looks after Dominic Lobalu, the decision not to compete in Zurich is a further precautionary measure in view of the World Championships in Tokyo, which begin on September 13.

The St. Gallen long-distance runner Lobalu will also have to forgo a start at the Weltklasse Zürich home meeting. The European 10,000 m champion is recovering well from the pulled muscle he suffered in training on August 16 and is already running again at a reduced speed. However, a serious competition comes too soon.
