In the end, the two women from Lucerne and Zurich finished 17th and 25th respectively, choosing an offensive tactic and starting the race (too) fast. After 5 km they emerged in 5th and 9th place. On the second loop, the two were passed by. They ultimately lost 1:04 and 1:16 minutes respectively to Norway's winner Astrid Slind, who finished ahead of Austria's Teresa Stadlober and the American Jessie Diggins. Nadja Kälin finished 32nd (1:37 minutes back), her sister Marina 35th (1:46).

Two-time Tour de Ski winner Jessie Diggins sits on the leader's throne with a comfortable lead. She is 39 seconds ahead of Astrid Slind. Nadine Fähndrich is eighth, 1:12 minutes behind.

After a rest day, the mass start over 5 km in various heats is scheduled for Wednesday. The FIS is testing a new competition format.
