Nadine Fähndrich ends her career after the season

Fähndrich announced her surprising decision via Swiss-Ski two weeks after winning Olympic silver. Two weeks ago, the 30-year-old from Lucerne crowned her career at the Olympic Games in Milan-Cortina with a silver medal in the team sprint alongside Nadja Kälin. With a brilliant final lap, the most successful Swiss cross-country skier secured the Swiss coup. "A medal at the Olympic Games has always been a dream of mine," she says, looking back on this highlight.

After eleven seasons in the World Cup, three Olympic appearances and five World Championships, Fähndrich decided to retire. Her palmarès is exceptional with 26 World Cup podiums, including seven victories (including mixed relay and team sprints). She has also won three medals at world championships: Alongside Laurien van der Graaff, she won silver in the team sprint at the 2021 World Championships in Oberstdorf and bronze in the same discipline with Anja Weber in Trondheim in 2025.

Fähndrich is aiming for one last big goal this season by winning the small crystal globe for the best sprinter. The cross-country skier from Skiclub Horw is currently in 2nd place in the overall rankings. Nadine Fähndrich will compete in her last race at the Swiss Championships in Les Diablerets at the end of March.
