The Swiss cross-country skiers failed to make an exploit in the thick snow in Lake Placid. Nadja Kälin finished 18th in the 10 km classic World Cup with individual start, Anja Weber came 20th.
The Swedes celebrated a double victory in the 1932 and 1980 Olympic venue with Linn Svahn and Frida Karlsson. They were followed by four Norwegians. The top two Swiss women lost a good two minutes to Svahn.
The last sprint of the season follows on Saturday in Lake Placid in the state of New York, where Nadine Fähndrich will be battling to win the small crystal globe. On Sunday, the World Cup will come to an end with a mass start race over 20 km. The American Jessie Diggins has long been the winner of the overall World Cup for the fourth time.
