Nadja Kälin has found her top form perfectly for the World Championships. In the last World Cup before the title fights, she finished eighth in Falun, by far her best World Cup result, and she has now gone one better in Trondheim. In the skiathlon, the 23-year-old from the Engadine had achieved a very strong 6th place, and in the 10 km classic with individual start she followed this up with eighth place.

Kälin was a little unlucky with the seconds. She lost less than five seconds to fifth-placed Heidi Weng, who finished ninth, half a minute behind the Swiss athlete. Once again, she benefited from excellently prepared skis. Nadja's sister Marina Kälin, who is two years younger, also had a good race in 23rd place.

At the top, Ebba Andersson and Therese Johaug fought a thrilling duel, as in the skiathlon, with the Swedes coming out on top in every women's race in Trondheim so far. After the photo finish on Sunday, this time 1.3 seconds decided in favor of Andersson and against the 14-time world champion from Norway in snowfall. Bronze went to another Swede, Frida Karlsson.

The medals once again all went to Scandinavia, but the Central Europeans also performed strongly. Austria's Teresa Stadlober finished ahead of Kälin in fourth place and Germany's Katharina Hennig in seventh.
