HC Davos loses twice in a row for the first time this season. In Lausanne, the leaders lost 2:3 after taking an early lead.

The Romandie was not worth the trip for the HCD. 24 hours after the 0:7 drubbing in Geneva, there was nothing to be gained in Lausanne either. In the first 19 games of the season, the Davos team had scored points and only lost once on penalties. Now they have failed to score twice in a row.

The game had started perfectly for the HCD. After 94 seconds, Tino Kessler took advantage of a power play with a deflection to take an early lead. Lausanne needed Théo Rochette, who has been extremely convincing so far this season, to provide the initial spark. In the 12th minute, the 23-year-old Swiss-Canadian went in alone on goalie Luca Hollenstein, beating him at the second attempt and scoring his 13th goal of the season.

In the middle third, Erik Brännström (29) and Austin Czarnik gave the playoff finalists of the last two seasons a decisive 3:1 lead. The top scorer, so sorely missed by SC Bern, escaped 56 seconds before the second intermission while short-handed.

In the final third, Davos reduced the deficit to 2:3 again (53') through Valentin Nussbaumer while outnumbered, but that was as good as it got. Lausanne thus managed the better reaction to a weak performance on Tuesday (1:6 in Biel). The only downer: Rochette had to leave the ice in the middle of the final period after a correct check by Sven Jung and did not return.
