Natalie Maag finished 7th in the single luge in Park City in the USA, as she did at the World Cup opener in Winterberg a week ago.
After two runs, the luger from the Zurich Oberland lost 0.3 seconds to surprise winner Summer Britcher. The US qualifier is likely to have benefited from her home advantage and starting number. The higher-ranked skiers with high numbers had lost a lot of time in the first run. Maag was also only tenth after the first run.
Snowboard cross teams miss out on the podium
Snowboard. - The Swiss mixed duos Noemie Wiedmer/Valerio Jud and Sina Siegenthaler/Kalle Koblet missed out on the podium at the Breuil-Cervinia World Cup. They finished after the semi-finals and quarter-finals respectively. Wiedmer/Jud finished 7th in the small final. Mixed snowboard cross is an Olympic discipline.
Debora Annen best Swiss pilot
Bobsleigh - Debora Annen and push athlete Mara Morell were responsible for the best result in the women's doubles on Sunday in Lillehammer. In sixth place, 1.03 seconds behind the winners Laura Nolte/Deborah Levi, the pair were a tenth faster than Melanie Hasler/Nadja Pasternack (8th place). Inola Blatty/Selina von Jackowski finished in 11th place. This means that in three World Cups with the two-woman team, a different pilot has been the best Swiss woman each time.
Biathlon relay with Matthias Riebli as the final skier
Biathlon. - 21-year-old Matthias Riebli, the younger brother of cross-country skier Janik Riebli, was also allowed to compete in the men's relay at the World Cup in Hochfilzen after the sprint. The Obwalden native finished in 13th place. Sebastian Stalder, Joscha Burkhalter and Jeremy Finello were ahead of him.
Olympic ticket for Lea Meier
Biathlon. - Lea Meier fulfilled the Swiss Olympic requirement for an Olympic ticket in the pursuit in Hochfilzen. With 14th place in the pursuit, the 24-year-old achieved her best result in the World Cup to date. The athlete from Graubünden started the race from 26th position.
Amy Baserga, on the other hand, was left behind in the field. Starting fifth after the sprint, she finished 19th after four penalty loops. Aita Gasparin finished 39th and Lena Häcki-Gross 44th.
Main rehearsal for Engelberg failed
Ski jumping. - The Swiss ski jumpers around Gregor Deschwanden were not convincing before the home World Cup in Engelberg. The Lucerne team leader had to make do with 23rd place, Sandro Hauswirth in 29th place also completed two rounds. Killian Peier and Simon Ammann, still the best Swiss on Saturday, clearly missed the final round.
