Algerian Kaylia Nemour is crowned world champion on the uneven bars in Jakarta at the age of 18. She had already won gold on this apparatus at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
Nemour is the first African woman to win a world title in artistic gymnastics. With a score of 15.566 points, she edged out Russia's Angelina Melnikova by more than a point. Melnikova had won the all-around title the day before. China's Yang Fanyuwei completed the podium in third place.
The other World Championship titles on Friday went to Melnikova (vault), China's Hing Yanming (pommel horse), Great Britain's Jake Jarman (floor) and the USA's Donnell Whittenburg (rings).
None of the Swiss delegation qualified for the apparatus finals on Friday and Saturday. Florian Langenegger narrowly missed out on the top 8 on floor in ninth place. Noe Seifert, the bronze medal winner in the all-around, finished 10th on high bar.
