The association has appointed a new head of refereeing. Alexander Jäggi is the new director, Brent Reiber returns as "Referee in Chief" and Joel Hansson is now responsible for training.
The best known of the new trio is Brent Reiber (58). The Canadian-Swiss dual national already served as "Referee in Chief" for six years until 2021. He previously worked as a professional referee in Switzerland for many years and officiated over 3,000 matches during his career, including two World Cup finals. After four years with the Swiss Football Association as "Elite Referee Manager", Reiber is returning to the ice hockey association. He brings with him an immense combination of practical knowledge and leadership skills.
Alexander Jäger (49) has also worked in ice hockey for over 15 years. He was Sports Director of the Champions Hockey League and most recently Chairman of the Disciplinary Commission of the German Ice Hockey League (DEL). Joel Hansson (34) has held various refereeing positions with the Swedish, Norwegian and Austrian associations and has spent the last four years with the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF).
Nicolas Fluri, who replaced Andreas Fischer as head of refereeing in ice hockey last summer (Fischer moved to Ambri-Piotta as CEO), stepped down from his position at the beginning of February. Since then, refereeing has been managed on an interim basis by the association's CEO Martin Baumann. Philipp Rytz, the previous "Senior Officiation Manager", is leaving the ice hockey association at the end of October.
