The New Jersey Devils with their three Swiss players lose 1:2 against Buffalo after the Olympic break in the NHL. Timo Meier scores the only goal.

Timo Meier scored the only goal for the home team two and a half minutes before the end. Too late to turn the game around. The start of a race to catch up has thus failed for the time being. The Devils, who started the season with high ambitions and captain Nico Hischier, defender Jonas Siegenthaler and forward Meier, are currently the second-worst team in the East.

The Tampa Bay Lightning with Bernese defenseman Janis Moser and the Dallas Stars with Lian Bichsel from Solothurn can plan for the playoffs. Tampa Bay won 4:2 against the Toronto Maple Leafs, Dallas 4:1 against the Seattle Kraken. Bichsel made his comeback after missing 31 games with a lower-body injury. He was on the ice for 14:30 minutes.
