Lobalu wins by ten seconds ahead of Matthias Kyburz.
Dominic Lobalu, who is eligible to compete for Switzerland, pulled away from Matthias Kyburz in the second half of the course from the seventh kilometer onwards. The victory of the European champion over 10,000 m ultimately remained unchallenged.
Tadesse Abraham ended his extraordinary career at the New Year's Eve race. He finished 28.1 seconds behind in 6th place. Tadesse Abraham once fled Eritrea and started all over again in Switzerland. He only started his international career at the age of 32, ten years later and in his final season he was still running top-class times.
The women's race was won by Kenyan Winnie Tenai in the final sprint ahead of Helen Bekele.
