Hischier scored the first after just 29 seconds following a rebound. The 3:1 (44.) was a wonderful individual effort, starting in his own zone, before he was also responsible for the 4:2 (55.) on the power play. It was the second time that the 26-year-old center from Valais had scored three goals in one game in the NHL.

Hischier thus underlined his top form. He has only failed to score once in the last ten games. He now has 33 goals for the season, a personal record. So far, he has never scored more than 31 goals in an NHL qualifier.

Timo Meier, on the other hand, remained scoreless for the third time in a row, while Jonas Siegenthaler is still injured. The day before, the Devils had no chance against the Winnipeg Jets (0:4). New Jersey is in 3rd place in the Metropolitan Division, eight points ahead of the fourth-placed New York Rangers.

The Dallas Stars with Lian Bichsel have already qualified for the playoffs. They won 5:1 at the Seattle Kraken, also thanks to an assist from the Solothurn defenceman. Janis Moser also celebrated a win with the Tampa Bay Lightning - 5:3 at home against the New York Islanders. Kevin Fiala, on the other hand, lost 3-1 with the Los Angeles Kings against the Toronto Maple Leafs in front of a home crowd.
