Hischier scored to make it 1-0 and secured victory for the Devils with the decisive power play goal in overtime. The 27-year-old also set up one of the two shorthanded goals. The Walliser now has 28 goals and a total of 66 points. Despite his three points, he has not (yet) reached the figures of the three previous regular seasons: 69 points (35 goals) in 2025, 67 points (27 goals) in 2024 and 80 points (31 goals) in 2023.

Timo Meier was also credited with a scoring point. The Appenzell native was instrumental in Hischier's first goal and now has 24 goals and 20 assists, or 44 points. Defenseman Jonas Siegenthaler was on the ice for the 81st time in the 81st championship game.

The Devils' playoff dreams were shattered over a week ago. The last game of the 2025-26 championship is scheduled for Thursday night Swiss time away at the Boston Bruins.
