Swiss mountain biker Nicole Koller secures her first World Cup podium in Araxá, Brazil. The 2014 junior world champion finishes second in the Olympic cross-country.
In the first race of the 2025 World Cup season, Koller was only beaten by New Zealand's Samara Maxwell after a strong chase, who in turn celebrated her first victory in the elite category. Third place went to the American Savilia Blunk.
In an exciting race with many lead changes, Maxwell distanced the competition in the penultimate of eight laps and crossed the finish line solo. Koller fell behind after a strong start, but fought her way back to the front in the second half of the race and had more reserves of strength than her rivals at the end.
Alessandra Keller, who finished third in her first race after recovering from a cruciate ligament injury in the short track on Saturday, just missed out on the podium in fourth place. Sina Frei in 7th place rounded off the great Swiss team result. Ronja Blöchlinger (20th), Jolanda Neff (24th), Linda Indergand (28th) and Noëlle Buri (37th) could not quite keep up with the fastest.
