Nino Niederreiter and the Winnipeg Jets win 6-1 against the New Jersey Devils in the NHL.
The Winnipeg Jets remain the measure of all things in the NHL. The Canadians celebrated their second win in a row on Saturday night after suffering an unusual three defeats in a row. Nikolaj Ehlers, the son of Visp coach Heinz, shone with three goals in the 6-1 win, consolidating the Jets' position as the best team in the league. Nino Niederreiter remained without a goal in just under 15 minutes of ice time.
For Nico Hischier and Timo Meier, however, the clash with their Swiss partner was one to forget. Both forwards of the New Jersey Devils, who had to leave the ice as losers for the third time in a row, finished the game with a minus-3 record.
The evening was more successful for Philipp Kurashev and Pius Suter. Kurashev helped the Chicago Blackhawks, the second weakest team in the league, to their third win in the last four games. However, the Bernese forward was only on the ice for around six minutes in the 4:3 win against Utah.
Meanwhile, Pius Suter and the Vancouver Canucks collected important points in the battle for a playoff spot. In the 3:1 win against Minnesota, Suter provided the assist for the last goal into the empty net in the final minute. The Zurich native now has 13 assists this season.
