Switzerland's biggest medal hope at the Judo World Championships in Budapest misses out on a podium finish.
After winning gold in 2023 and bronze in 2024, Nils Stump comes away empty-handed this time in the up to 73 kg category.
Stump, who traveled to the Hungarian capital as a two-time tournament winner this year, was narrowly defeated by Olympic silver medallist and new world champion Joan-Benjamin Gaba from France by golden score in his second world championship fight.
Binta Ndiaye, the Swiss fighter in the 57 kg category, also lost her second fight against the eventual World Championship silver medalist Momo Tamaoki from Japan.
